An intra oral camera is a very small camera which is about the same size as most of the dentist’s hand-pieces. In some cases, an intra oral camera is just a few millimeters long. An intra oral camera allows us to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, we are able to see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations, and we can display these same images to you on our chair side monitor so that you can see for yourself, exactly what we are seeing. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time, and a better understanding of the treatment that will be performed, or that is being recommended.

Intra oral cameras are a wonderful patient education and information tool, and we use them regularly in our practice.

Intra oral cameras also enable our practice to save these images as data files in our office computer to provide a permanent record of your treatments and the results. These treatments and results can be printed for you, other specialists, and your insurance company as necessary.
