Paul Y. Lin, DDS
Meet Dr. Lin
Originally from Taiwan
Many people are surprised when I tell them that I was born in Taiwan. My facial features would usually encourage people to guess my ethnicity was derived from almost anywhere else in Asia other than Taiwan. If you have not been to, or heard of Taiwan, it is a beautiful island with great food on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, south of Japan and Korea, north of the Philippines, and east of Hong Kong and mainland China.
Education
My family moved to San Jose, California when I was 14, where I attended high school. I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a major in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a minor in Music. I then attended the School of Dental and Oral Surgery at Columbia University in New York City. After dental school in New York I came right back to the Bay Area and settled in San Francisco, doing my residency at the University of California and setting up in private practice as an associate until opening my own office.

Why dentistry? I am often asked
I used to have very crooked teeth. Yes, VERY crooked! After an initial struggle with my mother who insisted that I have orthodontic work, and almost four years of wearing metal brackets on my teeth, I realized just how much having a better smile had positively impacted my life in so many different ways. That realization was the initial driving force for me to explore dentistry as a profession, and I remain committed to helping my patients make positive changes in their lives through the art of modern dentistry.
